Cambri

This is Cambri.  She is our Student of the Week!  Cambri's favorite foods to eat are Spaghetti-o's and chocolate (but not mixed together).  Her favorite sport is gymnastics.  She loves to read Shopkins Corny Jokes and Riddles.  Cambri has many pets:  FOUR cats, ONE dog and ONE fish!  When she grows up, Cambri wants to own a hairstyle salon.  She loves to watch Sponge Bob Square Pants on television.  RED is Cambri's favorite color.  She loves to visit her cousin's house.  Cambri is special because she is fast and sweet, but the VERY BEST THING about her is the fact that she is nice and kind! 

Clifford Day

Who's BIG and RED and loves first graders???   CLIFFORD, the Big Red Dog of course!  We celebrated our day 'Clifford Style' on Friday!

Kailynn wore her Clifford costume to school!  She wore it until after morning recess, when she finally got just too hot!

We did several activities today with a Clifford theme!  We started out our day with a couple of Clifford stories.  We then moved on to three Clifford coloring/activity pages: a dot-to-dot, a color-word, and a free coloring paper.  While they were working on the papers, Mrs. Ferrell fit their headbands and stapled on their ears to make them look like Clifford!  They kids enjoyed working on them until it was time for a special treat...

Zavier's mom, Trisha Schlipp, made us some very special doggy cupcakes to help celebrate Clifford's birthday!  They were adorable and ALMOST too cute to eat!  We thank her for making them for us!

After recess, we made Clifford paper bag puppets.  There were also six bones to go with the puppet with sentences on them.  After we made the puppets, we practiced reading the bones and 'feeding' them to our puppets.

After lunch and recess, we worked on an art project to hang on one of our bulletin boards.  They kids worked very hard on these, as they knew they would be hanging on our wall in the classroom.

On Fridays, we have two specials in the afternoon.  Our first was Library, but afterwords, we had just enough time for a fun Clifford movie...

After the movie, the kids had STEM class until the end of the day.  But before they left, I took a couple of class photos for your enjoyment...  The first is with the headbands and the second is holding up the puppets as well.

A fun day was had by all!  It was fun to have a special day to celebrate such a special dog!

This is Ayden!  He is our Student of the Week this week!  Ayden's favorite color is ORANGE.   He loves to visit his camper at Tri Ponds as often as possible.  Ayden likes to watch Stuck in the Middle on television.  He would like to be a police office when he grows up.  Ayden has a dog named Chika.  He loves to read "Brown Bear, Brown Bear" the best.  Ayden loves to play and watch soccer.  His favorite food is lasagna.  Ayden is special because he is kind, but the VERY BEST thing about him is that he is nice to others!

Partner Reading!

Good afternoon everyone!  Last week we practiced Partner Reading!  We learned that we need to sit 'EEKK' (with Elbow, Elbow, Knee, Knee touching).  Each partner has a book, and the partner on the left reads aloud the left side of the book while the other partner listens, and then the partner on the right reads the right side of the book while their partner listens.  I first modeled with Ashtyn, and then we gave it a try!  The kids did an awesome job!  Just look at the photos below to see how engaged they were!  Sorry... I didn't catch quite everyone!  I will be sure to get more photos on Friday when we celebrate Clifford Day!

We also took some time last week to do our first little writing/art project.  First, the kids wrote about themselves, and then decorated the top one to look like themselves.  The writing piece and the artistic piece are stapled at the top and displayed on our bulletin board.  Can you find your child?  :)

Ashtyn

 

This is Ashtyn!  She is our very first Student of the Week!  Ashtyn's favorite color is turquoise.  She would love to visit Hawaii someday.  Ashtyn's favorite television show is Full House.  When she grows up, Ashtyn would like to be a doctor.  She has two dogs named Kenzie and Harlee.  Ashtyn likes to read Pete, the Cat books and Fly Guy books.   Her favorite sport to watch is volleyball.  Ashtyn loves to eat tacos!  She is special because she gives really good hugs, but the VERY BEST THING about Ashtyn is that she is nice to people!
