We are learning about shapes in math. This week the focus was on 2-D shapes. We did various activities with paper shapes all week long. The kids learned that squares and rectangles have 4 'square' corners (90 degrees), and that squares have four equal sides. Rectangles have two shorter sides and two longer sides. We also learned that all triangles have three sides, but SOME triangles do have one square corner (we know this as an isosceles triangle). We also learned about circles, hexagons, trapezoids and more. We learned how to use multiple shapes to make different or bigger shapes.
We will soon be moving on to 3-D shapes, so we decided to use our paper shapes to be creative today! They were very excited to use them to make their own unique creations. Enjoy!
