Brandon the math whiz!

Brandon completed his addition facts to 10 within 3 seconds today!   He has worked very hard at school and at home and it has paid off!   Congratulations to Brandon!  

We have three more days and many children who are close to earning their certificate as well!   Don't forget to continue to visit Xtra Math all summer long.   I will keep our class active and do receive emails when your child is ready to move to the next level.

Congratulations to Abby V.!   She completed her fourth round of math facts on Xtra Math!  Abby has now mastered her addition facts to 10 within 3 seconds AND 2 seconds.  Also, she has mastered her subtraction facts from 10 within 3 seconds AND 2 seconds!

Abby will now begin to work on her Multiplication facts!   

Remember:  your child can visit Xtra Math all summer long to review math facts!  Our class will not be archived until September 1st, so please have your child keep those facts fresh this summer.   I am able to see those who visit the site and those who choose not to every Monday!   

Isaac earns his addition certificate!

Congratulations to Isaac!   He earned his certificate for knowing all of his

addition facts within 3 seconds!   That is 100 math facts mastered!

Isaac will now start on his subtraction facts for Xtra Math.

There are several others who are very close to earning their certificates

as well.  Keep checking our blog for new certificate winners this week!

Miss Shelby

This week we were sad to say good-bye to Miss Shelby!   She has been a HUGE asset to our class as well as to Mrs. Church's first graders.  Miss Shelby worked with every single one of the children either individually or in a small or large group.  She was invaluable and we were very lucky to have her help this year!  Miss Shelby was accepted to U of M and will be studying to be a teacher.  If the past year is any indication, she will be a wonderful teacher someday!   Thank you Miss Shelby for spending so much of your time with us all year long!   You made a positive difference in all of our lives and we appreciate you more than you imagine!

Teusink's Farm Trip

Well, it took me quite some time to download all the photos I took and received from others on the trip! But I know you will all enjoy the MANY photos of our fun (but soggy) field trip to the farm!   We started off riding the ponies, then moved on to a hay ride (with a cover to keep us dry).  Next was a 'meet and greet' with some baby animals in the barn.  Our trip would not be complete without a chance to go fishing in the pond.  We took a short walk to see some pretty fantastic birds (turkeys, pheasants, peacocks) and finished our trip with a chance to feed the goats, sheep and ducks!   Enjoy the photos and if you would like any on the blog to be emailed to you direct so that you can download them, just shoot me an email.
