Fun Math

We are learning about shapes in math.  This week the focus was on 2-D shapes.  We did various activities with paper shapes all week long.  The kids learned that squares and rectangles have 4 'square' corners (90 degrees), and that squares have four equal sides.  Rectangles have two shorter sides and two longer sides.  We also learned that all triangles have three sides, but SOME triangles do have one square corner (we know this as an isosceles triangle).  We also learned about circles, hexagons, trapezoids and more.  We learned how to use multiple shapes to make different or bigger shapes.

We will soon be moving on to 3-D shapes, so we decided to use our paper shapes to be creative today!  They were very excited to use them to make their own unique creations.  Enjoy!

Adam

This is Adam!  He has been waiting very patiently all school year, and he is FINALLY the Student of the Week!  He is our last one too!  Adam's favorite color is GREEN.  He loves to visit the family cottage up north!  Adam likes to watch Power Rangers on television.  When he grows up, Adam wants to be a farmer and drive John Deere equipment.  He has no pets, but someday he hopes to have a dog.  Adam's favorite book is called "Mighty Robot".  His favorite sport is soccer.  Adam loves to eat sweet corn - especially grown in his own garden.  Adam is special because he has good friends, but the VERY BEST THING about him is the fact that he is a great big brother to his younger sisters.
