100th Day of School!

We celebrated our 100th day of school on Tuesday!   Most of the day was spent doing various activities with a 100 theme.  See below for pictures and descriptions of our day!

The kids brought in 100 pieces of a dry snack food to mix together for snack time.

Carly works on sorting her mixed snack before eating it!

Payton surveys the 'goodies' in her 100 snack!

Rowan has her snack sorted and is ready to eat!  Jackson does not worry about the sorting, and just enjoys the fun of eating it up!

Paul,  Kiel, Lily and Kayden work on a weighing activity.  The kids brought in 100 of something to weigh in a balance scale.  First they weighed their items against pennies or tiles or teddy bear counters.  Then they divided their items into groups of ten.  Everyone found out that 100 items divides into ten 10's!  (Go figure!)

When they were not weighing their items, some children made 100 hats.  Others drew pictures of themselves at 100 years old for a class book and did a paper to show what they thought the future would be like in 100 years.

We look great in our 100 hats!

The kids work in teams to complete 100 piece puzzles.

The 100th day of school was a lot of fun!  It's always nice to have a break in our routine and do something different for a day.  Thank you parents, for helping your children prepare for our special day.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Today we celebrated Valentine's Day.  We did some Valentine math using candy hearts.  We read a Scholastic News with a Valentine theme.  Our normal Friday includes InfoTech and Music, plus we had 'release time' as well this week!   Of course we had ice cream for a snack, and then the real fun began!   The kids LOVE to open all their Valentine cards!   They enjoyed eating a TON of candy, so enjoy that crash when they get home from school!   Enjoy the various pictures of our card opening and candy eating!

Finally!   We get to open our cards!

Abby and Gabe look over their pile of cards!

Brady, Lily, Paul and Kayden discuss their candy!

That's quite a haul Abigail!

Rowan tries "Pop Rocks" for the first time!

A crowd formed to enjoy "Fun Dip" together!

Lovely "Fun Dip tongues!"

Happy Valentine's Day

Eye Spy!

Mr. Ferrell visited at lunch time today!   The kids came in after Art and InfoTech class to find the above clue on our white board!   Immediately upon seeing the bow tie, they KNEW that Mr. Ferrell left a hidden clue somewhere in our room!   Do you know the answer?    Izzy Williams did!

Izzy whispered in my ear that the cherry's noses on our poster used to be red, but now they are lighter.  She had to tell me how the cherries related to the clue, and she said, "Because cherries have pits!"   Good for you Izzy!   Enjoy the rubber bat you chose as your reward!   (I'm sure her mother will love that!)

Thanks Mr. Ferrell for making your visits extra special for our class!
