Last Blast!

As promised, here is the final blog post of the 2017-2018 school year!   Today was our Last Blast!  We had 10 stations to visit, and we enjoyed each and every one of them!   Get ready to view the almost 200 photos from the day!  Phew!  I tried to get as many as I could!  There will only be BRIEF descriptions this time, so enjoy the photos!  Thank you to Mr. Kramer, our wonderful PTO, and the numerous volunteer helpers for making this such a special day for us!

Our first station was called Big Clothes Relay.  We divided up into two teams.  Each team member put on a big shirt, big shorts and sunglasses and run around a cone.  Then the next person takes a turn, until all had the opportunity to participate!

Next stop, Dizzy Dean's Relay Race.  This one was the relay where you run down, grab a bat, and spin around 5 times and then run back.  Sadly, there was not one wipe out!  Oh well, it was still fun!

Our third station was called Shoe Kick!  It worked exactly as it is named... The kids loosened one shoe, and on the 'go', kicked it off!  It was pretty funny to watch!

The next stop was a combination activity:  Sidewalk Chalk, Fireball (jumping game) and Four Square:

Our next station was a favorite!  It was called Bucket Brigade.  Two teams lined up between buckets.  Using cups, they transferred the water from one bucket to the other by pouring water from cup to cup.  It was fun and cooled them off a bit as well when some spillage occurred.

Next stop was the Over/Under relay.  Two teams lined up like a train, and passed the ball first over the head, then under the legs in an alternating fashion.

Our next activity was simply some time to play on the nearby playground area.  There were lots of tagging, swinging, climbing and smiles!

Next stop... Sponge Toss Relay.  Fill the sponge with water, toss it to a peer, squeeze the water out, and run it back!

The obstacle course was our next stop.  You should have heard the cheering for each other!  Precious!

Our final stop was the Cup Stacking Relay.  Students learned to "upstack" and "downstack" cups in Physical Education class this spring.  In this relay, students took turns upstacking and the next person downstacked through the line.  They were really very good at this skill!

Phew!  That was so much fun!  Next, our PTO generously gave us Popsicles to cool us off after all that fun!

The final event of our day was the 'Clap Out' for our 4th graders!  This tradition involves all of the younger students lining the track as the 4th graders come out and walk around the track to our cheers and applause for a job well done.  This is a neat tradition, that kids really look forward to as they move up through Hamilton Elementary School.  Some are smiling, some are crying, and some give high five's, but it is really cool to see!  Someday these kids will be those 4th graders!

It has been my pleasure to be your child's teacher this year!  All of your support at home made a tremendous difference in the success of each and every one of them this year!  I thank you for sharing them with me!  Enjoy your summer!

And... now for the finale... the blog just would not be the same without... THE FUNNY ONES!
