Congratulations to Collin for mastering all 100 addition facts to and from 10! Collin has been working very hard both at school and at home to learn his facts! He will now move on to his subtractions facts (and is very excited about this!)
In class, we discussed that when using Xtra Math at home or at school, it is very important to pay close attention and try your best when answering the math problems. I've noticed that many children just guess and tap a number rather than try hard to get it correct. The program requires kids to get the answer correct THREE TIMES CONSECUTIVELY before it is considered 'mastered'. The first 'quiz' is the most important, because that is where the program records progress. The "Race the Teacher" portions are just for practice!
Remember, your child gets his/her picture taken and emailed to a parent each time they earn 20+ smiley faces when using Xtra Math in class! This is highly motivating for the kids, so when you receive one, please praise them at home for their hard work!
